After exploring the pros and cons of theme-based story times, this session will offer alternative ways to plan and present preschool storytimes. Rethink the focus of your programs and learn to use time-tested materials in new ways.

Betsy Diamant-Cohen  
Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen is the creator of Mother Goose on the Loose, an early literacy program. In addition to holding a doctorate in Communications Design, she also is a certified instructor for Barbara Cass-Beggs' Your Baby Needs Music program. Dr. Diamant-Cohen runs MGOL training workshops throughout the United States and is the Early Childhood Specialist for the Port Discovery Children's Museum in Baltimore, MD. Named a 'Mover and Shaker' by Library Journal in 2004, she has recently published Mother Goose on the Loose (Neal-Schuman), which has received a number of favourable reviews, including one from Library Journal. Her next book, a manual for presenting Mother Goose on the Loose programs in Spanish with the help of a community partner will also be published by Neal-Schuman.
